It may seem like the diet is too limiting at first but with and open mind and little creativity you will come to enjoy a wide variety of new foods and learn to eat beyond your limitations. Good luck!
> Sugar - Yeast feed on sugar so everytime we engage in a sugary treat we are only adding fuel to the raging fire in our intestines. At first it may seem pretty simple to cut out sugar and it may be for many but it is more than just forgoing the 5lb bag of Domino sugar in the store. Sugar goes by many other names so you must become familar with its aliases. In addition to real sugar you must avoid artificial sweetners such as sucralose, aspartame and nutrasweet.
>Processed Foods - Most things that come out of a can, bottle or box are more than likely going to be off limits. There are some exceptions however, but make sure to read labels very carefully. Most processed foods are extremely high in sugar and cabohydrates and lack nutritional value.
Salt - First sugar, now salt, say it ain’t so. When we think of salt most of us think of iodized table salt. This is what many of use on our foods and yes it is prohibited on the candida diet. Most common table salts contain potassium iodide, calcium silicate and dextrose. Potassium iodide is an essential nutrient, calcium silicate is and anticaking agent and dextrose is sugar. It is the dextrose that we are trying to avoid by not consuming table salt. Choose sea salt to avoid the dextrose but always read the ingredients as even sea salt is not exempt from having chemical additives.
