Yeast Free Meat Sauce

I love pasta sauce.  I love all types of pasta sauce.  Marinara, Alfredo, and pesto are all so good but my favorite is meat sauce.  That is why I had to create a  yeast free meat sauce for the candida diet.  This yeast free meat sauce has become a favorite of my family and friends.  I make this using tomato sauce and dried herbs and spices.  I sometimes use fresh garlic, onions, and basil to give the sauce more flavor and texture.  I tend to do this only when I have a little extra time to spend in the kitchen chopping.  Most recipes recommend draining excess grease from the meat after browning.  I use ground turkey meat and there is very little, if any, grease to drain after browning.  If you are using another type of ground meat that produces a lot of grease you should drain.

So what do I eat this yeast free meat sauce with?   As you know traditional pasta does not work for the candida diet but fortunately there are several alternatives that are appropriate for stages 1 and 2 of the candida diet.  Spaghetti squash, brown rice pasta, zucchini noodles and soba buckwheat noodles are great pasta alternatives.

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound ground meat
  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
  1. In a large skillet heat olive oil over medium heat
  2. Add ground meat to pan
  3. Add all seasoning (basil, parsley, oregano, onion, garlic, sea salt, & black pepper)
  4. Brown meat until no longer pink
  5. Drain grease from meat
  6. Stir in tomato sauce and water
  7. Cover pan and let sauce simmer on low for 10 minutes
